Photonics is a part of the modern science of light primarily concerned with the control, generation, and manipulation of optical signals. The concepts of quantum mechanics can be applied for nanophotonic structures and devices, quantum wells, barriers, and two or three-dimensional quantum-confined structures. These concepts are used to explain quantum well lasers, quantum well infrared photo detectors, and quantum cascade lasers.
The objective of this workshop is to know the basics of quantum mechanics and various synthesis techniques of growing nanostructures. This workshop will provide the knowledge of Nanophotonics that signifies the utility of nanostructures to enhance the interaction of light with matter for the applications such as, ultrahigh speed all optical processing, frequency metrology, novel mid-infrared sources and quantum information technology.
